Reviews on Upwork

It seems many freelancers including my best friend are recommending this site for finding writing jobs.

Upwork (Merged to form Elance & oDesk)
https://www.upwork.com

According to Wikipedia:
Upwork, formerly Elance-oDesk, is a global freelancing platform where businesses and independent professionals connect and collaborate remotely.

(By the way, I was told before that I shouldn't use Wikipedia to provide definitions for academic purposes when I used it on my assignment... I don't trust everything I read there, but I still think it is a good online resource updated by many contributors.)

I found three very useful review articles about Upwork and freelancing.

The first one is
UpWork Review 2016 (oDesk) at Comparakeet
https://www.comparakeet.com/best-freelance-websites/upwork-review/
Good summary with a list of both Pros and Cons. It's very informative and you can get an overview at a glance instead of reading lots of reviews and forums for positives and negatives.
It also gives you an idea of how you charge in two ways; per hour basis or per job basis.
The conclusion of the review makes sense covering both the good and the bad. Have a read of the Upwork review at Comparakeet

The second one is
Use these Upwork tips at your own risk at Freelance To Win
https://freelancetowin.com/bad-upwork-tips/
This is a very interesting article by Danny Margulies. He talks about "Bad Upwork Tips". I mean there are so many misleading Upwork Tips (or any other tips) online, so he explains about 4 common misleading tips, which you can find online, with his own experiences.
It is worth reading them. And they are not only for Upwork, but also useful to any websites for your freelance writing jobs. Read the bad Upwork tips too good to miss.

The last one is

http://thoughtcatalog.com/daniel-dipiazza/2015/11/3-smart-and-simple-ways-to-make-money-in-freelancing/
This is a very useful article by Daniel DiPiazza. He did a clever experiment/research! It's really good to read before you submit your first proposal to a freelance job. This is the must read article before you start freelancing!
